Galway to feature in new film Seven Songs For Amy

GALWAY WILL be one of the main locations for shooting the film, Seven Songs For Amy, which will be directed by BAFTA nominee Konrad Begg, and feature Patrick Bergin and Galway’s Aindrias de Staic.

Seven Songs For Amy will be shot in Galway city and county in and also in New York. The Galway connections do not end there as the company behind the film is Kinvara based Sonny and Skye Productions, while County Galway based singer-songwriters Jim McKee and Ultan Conlon will contribute music to the soundtrack.

Seven Songs for Amy starts filming on August 22. It is a comedy set in the west of Ireland, which follows the story of a struggling musician Sean O’Malley - played by Sean Maguire (Meet the Spartans, Eastenders ) who writes an album for Amy (Lorna Anderson ), the girl he is supposed to marry, who is now in the arms of a global pop star (Kevin J Ryan ).

The cast will also feature Patrick Bergin (Sleeping with the Enemy ), Gavin Mitchell (Being Human ), Aindrias de Staic (Around The World On 80 Quid ) Ford Kiernan (Gangs of New York ), Barry Ward (Silent Witness ), Ross MacMahon (Boy Racer ), and Olwyn Boyle (Fair City ).

The producers of the film are Fiona Graham (who has also written the screenplay ), Ford Kiernan (Still Game ), and Angela Murray (Last King of Scotland ). The executive producers are John McDonnell (Song for Raggy Boy ) and Mairi McLellan (partner at Sonny and Skye Productions ).
