DAMIEN O’KANE has been hailed by The Sunday Express for his “superb vocals” and for being “an outstanding banjo player” while BBC Music has hailed “the richness of his voice”.
The County Derry musician is best known for his work with Shona Kipling and Flook, and he is also a member of Kate Rusby’s band. However he is also seen as one of the most exciting emerging talents in traditional music and he is coming to Galway to play Kelly’s next Wednesday at 9pm.
Last year Damien released his debut solo album Summer Hill which featured contributions from Ian Carr, Michael McGoldrick, Aaron Jones, John-Joe Kelly, and Kate Rusby. Irish Music Magazine called Summer Hill “the best and most surprising vocal CD of 2010 and one that will have a very long life”.
