Anarchy and soap stars as Gaeilge

ACCIDENTAL DEATH Of An Anarchist by the Nobel prize winning Italian author Dario Fo will be performed as Gaeilge by An Taibhdhearc.

Accidental Death of an Anarchist, or Bás Taismeach Ainríalaí as it will be for this production, will be staged in Seanscoil Sailearna, Indreabhán, from Monday July 18 to Sunday 24, as part of the Galway Arts Festival.

The play is based on a true story. In 1969 a bank in Milan was bombed and the anarchist suspected of carrying out the act subsequently ‘threw himself’ out of the fourth floor window of the police station where he was being held. In Fo’s play, the main character tries to get to the truth of the events leading to this man’s untimely death.

Directed by and starring Pádraic Ó Tuairisc in the lead role, the cast also features Séamus Moran (Ros na Rún, Fair City ), and Ros na Rún’s MacDara Ó Fátharta, Sean Mistéal, Tara Bhreathnach, and Eoghan Ó Riada.

Tickets are available from the festival box office on Forster Street and through www.galwayartsfestival.com and www.ticketmaster.ie
