The Ardilaun readies itself for Race Week

It is that time of year again when staff at the four star Ardilaun hotel, Taylor’s Hill are busy preparing for another busy Galway Race Week Festival. One of the highlights this year will be a unique event in conjunction with the National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI ) with lunch, fashion, and races fever on Tuesday July 26 at the hotel, with proceeds on the day going to this very worthy charity.

The Ryan family, owners of The Ardilaun since its opening in 1962, has a longstanding relationship with the Galway Racing Festival for hospitality and fashion, and sister company Anthony Ryan’s along with Hartmann’s Jewellers is on board to sponsor the Best Dressed Competition at this special event. The fashion show with Catwalk Modelling Company will feature a range of local shops and boutiques from Galway city and county along with headpieces from milliner Mark T Burke, hair by Quiff Hair studio, and make-up by Avalon Beauty Salon at The Ardilaun. Bairbre Power of the Irish Independent and Weekender magazine will MC the fashion event, and with Miriam Hand director of NBCRI will judge the first past the post in the Raciest Lady stakes, along with Bookies Favourite Gent in the fashion stakes. The prizes will consist of gift vouchers from Anthony Ryans and Homestore along with his and hers Seiko watches, compliments of Hartmann Jewellers.

Kicking off at 12 noon with Eve, a drinks reception sponsored by Diageo, guests can dress up for the races, enjoy a four course lunch with wine, followed by an afternoon of fashion and entertainment with a special performance of Duo Vocis by classical tenors Frank Naughton and Sean Costello.

There will also be a racing tipster on hand to give racing tips, so patrons can leave their cars at the hotel for the day, and enjoy a complimentary shuttle to the race course to make the first race for this evening meeting, with complimentary entry to the racecourse also. Alternatively relax and chill out in Blazers Bar and Bistro with large screens featuring the Galway Races from Ballybrit. Tickets are now selling for this prestigious event for €60 per person all inclusive, and bookings are essential.

The Ardilaun is offering special overnight rates of €95 per person sharing on this night, inclusive of full Irish breakfast and entertainment by Carmel Dempsey and Band, and DJ Benen Tierney will play until late.
