Nudes from a new perspective

THE NUDE in Western art can be either be a study of the form, contours, and idiosyncrasies of the human body (eg, Gwen John, Lucien Freud ), or be unashamed erotica (Ingres, Delveaux, Allen Jones ) - it just depends on who is painting them.

The Kenny Gallery, for its Galway Arts Festival exhibition, will be celebrating the nude in art through NUDE [blatant exhibitionism], but with a twist.

For this exhibition, Kenny’s has asked artists who do not paint nudes or who traditionally not work with the human figure to step outside their comfort zones and paint nudes. The works will range from the humorous to the serious, and from the classical to the abstract.

NUDE [blatant exhibitionism] will be opened by Galway novelist Nuala Ní Chonchúir at The Kenny Gallery, Liosbán Retail Park, Tuam Road, this Saturday at 2pm.

The exhibition continues daily, 9am to 5pm, Mondays to Saturdays, throughout the month of July. All are welcome
