Contempo to begin Galway Cathedral Recitals

THE GALWAY Cathedral Recitals series of summer recitals returns with the opening concert, featuring the ConTempo Quartet and David Grealy, taking place this evening at 8pm.

ConTempo Quartet and David Grealy, former Organ Scholar of Galway Cathedral and now organist in residence in Westminster Cathedral, will perform music by Bach, Haydn, and Handel, utilising both of the cathedral organs.

Other concerts are Raymond O’Donnell (July 14 ) playing Hindemith, Bach, Liszt, and Howells; Johannes Götz (July 21 ) playing Bach, Reger, Liszt, and Lutz; Józef Kotowicz (July 28 ) performing music from Poland and Scandinavia; Stefan and Kathinka Frank (August 4 ); and Cristel de Meulder and Jan Van Mol (August 11 ).

The Galway Cathedral Recitals will take place on Thursdays at 8pm until August 11. Concerts are followed by a gathering where the audience can meet the performers.

Admission is €12/8. A Friend’s Ticket is also available, which gives admission to all six concerts at a discount.
