Mick Hanly and Arty McGlynn @ The Forge

TWO OF the giants of Irish folk - Mick Hanly and Arty McGlynn - along with Nollaig Casey, play The Forge in Moycullen this Saturday at 9pm.

Although best known for his massive hit ‘Past the Point of Rescue’, Mick has been writing songs and playing live for decades and is a true stalwart of the Irish music scene. Back in 1970 Mick worked for the ESB in Galway and spent his spare time playing guitar and singing in the Golden Key, a well known folk music venue at the time.

Over the years Mick has been at the forefront of marrying contemporary guitar styles with Irish traditional music and song, while at the same time retaining his love for country music.

Tyrone’s Arty McGlynn is a much sought after guitarist with a unique understanding of the music he performs and his virtuosity on guitar serves as a formidable yet subtle accompaniment to Hanly’s song writing.

Nollaig Casey is a gifted musician, who enjoys an international reputation as an exponent of Irish traditional music on violin.

Tickets are €15 and are available from The Forge on 091 - 868944.
