Galway Africans set to celebrate at the Afro-Caribbean Party

Galway’s African and Caribbean communities are set to hold a major celebration in the city to promote multiculturalism and integration in the region.

The Afro-Caribbean Party will take place in The Library Bar, The Kings Valley Hotel, Merlin Park, on Friday November 14.

The night will feature live music from Harry J & The Conspiracy, a reggae band from Cork, DJ Mlayu Don, Selecta J Don, MC Rungus, and the Rootical Sound System. The DJs will be playing from 7.30pm and the live music starts at 10.30pm.

Men will gain free admission until 8pm, afterwards it is €10. Women will have free admission until 10pm and afterwards it is €5.

Tickets are selling out fast but there are some still available through [email protected]. There will also be a special taxi fare to the event of €4 for four persons from selected taxi drivers.

The event is being organised by the Galway Tropicana Multicultural Events Group who are hoping to inject some “exoctica” into Galway night life. The group also hope to hold events to raise awareness and promote understanding between the Irish and the Africans through discussion of cultural and historical issues.
