GALWAY YOUTH Theatre will stage Brian Friel’s play Loves: Winners and Losers and Dennis Kelly’s Love and Money in the Nuns Island Theatre this July.
Brian Friel’s Loves: Winners and Losers will be performed from Monday July 11 to Saturday 23 daily at 1pm as part of the Galway Loves Theatre season.
First performed in 1967, the play follows a young couple preparing for their final school exams and their imminent wedding. The girl is pregnant. Although they promise each other happiness, their deaths by drowning save them from a more likely destiny.
GYT will also perform Love and Money which will run at 5pm from July 11 to July 23 daily as part of the Galway Arts Festival.
Love and Money is a cautionary tale of consumerism gone mad. Jess loves David. She believes happiness can be bought. David loves Jess. He must work to pay off her debt. Love and money is killing them.
Tickets to both plays are €14/12 each.
