The Galway Races carnival to bring families into city for race week

This Galway Race Week, from Thursday July 28 to Sunday July 31, the Galway harbour on Dock Road is set to be an all encompassing entertainment village for families, music lovers, and party goers alike.

Entitled the Galway Races carnival, the venue will cater during the day for families and at night for the race goers and party people of Galway city.

For families, carnival will be home to an action packed funfair complete with 110ft Ferris wheel. Food vendors will be on site catering for all the family's needs with options such as pizzas, steak burgers, plus coffees and pastries. Admission is free, except on Sunday, and opening hours are from 2pm to 6pm.

The Galway Races carnival, comprising a big top with a capacity for some 2,000, will transform each night into a party zone with music and bars. Local and national DJs will start the nightly entertainment followed by a live band to keep the party going.

Admission is free on Thursday, Friday and Sunday, with an entrance fee being charged only for the Saturday night’s line up. The night time concerts will have a strict over 18s policy. Doors open for concerts at 6pm, and for a worthwhile tip of the week, make sure and get there early.

The Galway Races carnival will be a welcome addition to the city during Race Week offering both an outdoor and indoor area that is comfortable, well staffed, easy to get to, and well organised for the crowds that like to enjoy the buzz and social scene in Galway during the races.
