New gates for Salthill shelters

The shelter and changing area in Ladies Beach, Salthill, which is decorated with colourful murals, is to have new, specially designed, gates which will be locked every evening and opened early in the morning.

Independent Cllr Catherine Connolly has welcomed the erection of the new gates. “Very serious representations had been made to me about the state of the dressing rooms in Salthill,” she said. “Indeed what the workers had to face early every morning as they cleaned up was totally unacceptable.”

The Galway City Council has now erected a number of gates - specially designed and treated - in three of the shelters in Salthill.

“Their shape and design is particularly welcome and very suitable to the environment,” said Cllr Connolly. “The gates are to be closed at night and opened early in the morning ensuring the cleaning of the shelters will not pose the same difficulties for staff as they had to endure before.”
