Pulp Fiction’s Amanda Plummer for Galway Film Fleadh

As Honey Bunny, she brandished a gun in a Lo s Angeles LA diner and warned that if any customer moved she would “execute every m************ last one of you!” That was Pulp Fiction and the actress was Amanda Plummer.

And now she is coming to the Galway Film Fleadh, in association with FÁS Screentraining Ireland, to give this year’s actors’ masterclass on Friday July 8 at 2pm. The fleadh runs from Tuesday July 5 to Sunday 10.

Ms Plummer is among a series of distinguished guests of honour at this year’s fleadh which also include Martin Sheen, screenwriter Gill Dennis, and director David MacKenzie.

The 23rd Galway Film Fleadh opens on July 5 with the Irish premiere of Parked, directed by Darragh Byrne, and starring Colm Meaney, Colin Morgan, and Stuart Graham. The film is a triumphant story of friendship, hope, and perseverance centering on lonely Fred and his dope smoking buddy Cathal.

Amanda Plummer’s credits include The World According to Garp (1982 ), Miss Rose White (1992 ), Pulp Fiction (1994 ), Butterfly Kiss (1995 ), as well as appearances on TV shows like Battlestar Galatica, LA Law, and Moonlighting. She is also a stage actress and has been Tony-nominated three times (including one for playing Eliza Doolittle in Pygmalion with Peter O'Toole and John Mills ).

The distinguished actor Martin Sheen will be the subject of the Galway Film Fleadh Public Interview in the Town Hall on Sunday 10 at 3pm. The fleadh will also screen the world premiere of Mr Sheen’s new film, Stella Days, directed by Thaddeus O’Sullivan.

Gill Dennis, the screenwriter of Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, will give this

year’s screenwriter’s masterclass on Wednesday July 6 at 2pm in the Radisson Hotel.

The directors’ masterclass will be given by Scottish director David MacKenzie, who has made the films The Last Great Wilderness (2002 ), Young Adam (2004 ), starring Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton, and Hallam Foe (2007 ), starring Jamie Bell. The masterclass will take place on Friday July 8 at 10am.

Each masterclass takes place in the Radisson Hotel and costs €50. Places are limited and early booking is advised.
