A proven reputation in attracting big players in the technology sector, access to a multilingual and highly skilled workforce, as well as the support of IDA Ireland has meant that locating in Galway truly is the right decision for Aspect, according to senior vice president Mark King.
Speaking at the official launch of Aspect’s Galway-based operations and the opening of its two facilities last Monday, Mr King said that the opening of this “strategically important operation” in Galway presents significant opportunities for the company’s business expansion. He said: “The availablity of a multilingual workforce, high calibre software engineers trained at exceptional third level institutions in Galway, such as the National University of Ireland, Galway and the Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology, along with the support of IDA Ireland further exemplifies the decision to locate in Galway is the right one for Aspect.”
Aspect, a global provider of customer contact and Microsoft platform solutions, first began its operations at the facilities - located at The IDA Business Park in Dangan and the Claregalway Corporate Park - in December last year with the aim of delivering customer technical support, provide software production and distribution and serve as a shared services centre for select administrative functions. Since commencing operations the two facilities have brought 37 new jobs to Galway and it is hoped that more are on the way.
The launch took place at the Glenlo Abbey Hotel in Bushy Park and was attended by the Minister for State at the Department of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation John Perry, as well as the Mayor of Galway city, Michael Crowe, Aspect Chief Financial Officer Mike Provenzano, Senior Vice President for Europe and Africa Mark King, and Vice President Shawn Garrett.
During his address, Minister Perry described Aspect as “an excellent addition to the thriving technology sector in Ireland”, one which “endorses Ireland’s international reputation as a leading location for global software and IT services”. He added: “Having distinguished itself as a global industry leader with its customer contact solutions, Aspect’s expansion in Ireland is creating employment opportunities across a range of high value activities which are strategically important to the company’s overall operations.”
