An event featuring music, animation, and photographs, will be unveiled next week to mark World Refugee Day in Galway city.
The Galway Refugee Support Group will unveiling this multi-disciplinary art installation, based on the theme of ‘Home’, on Monday in the Galway Arts Centre, 47 Dominick Street, from 2.30pm to 5pm.
The installation will feature a short animation piece created by children living in direct provision; a short film, 69/851/07, by Vukasin Nedeljkovic; and photos by visual ethnographer Zoe O’Reilly. There will also be music by Donncha Walsh.
The animation piece, Children in Direct Provision, was created by children resident in direct provision with the help of community artist Sharon Lynch. It will be shown in the Short Animation category at this year’s Galway Film Fleadh.
Guest speakers at the event will be Vukasin Nedeljkovic and Michael Gallagher, principal of the Claddagh Primary School.
