Beóga to play The Crane

BEÓGA HAVE been called “the best traditional band to emerge from Ireland this century” by the Wall Street Journal, while Irish Philadelphia called them “simply thrilling”.

Beóga will play two shows as part of the Galway Sessions Festival 2011 and they will perform in The Crane Bar tomorrow and Saturday at 9pm. They will also play the Craiceann Bodhrán Festival, Inis Oirr, on Tuesday.

The Antrim based band play primarily Irish trad, but they are not afraid to incorporate other genres’ nuances into their music - blues, jazz, New Orleans, etc. Their adventurousness earned them a Grammy award nomination in 2010 for their album The Incident.

The band are Damian McKee (accordion ), Seán Óg Graham (multi-instrumentalist ), Liam Bradley (piano ), Eamon Murray (bodhrán ), and Niamh Dunne (vocals and fiddle ).
