A poetic journey through paintings

IN THE early 1990s, Paul Durcan took a trip to the National Gallery of London where he enjoyed viewing works by Van Gogh, Van Eyck, Rubens, and Gainsborough.

The visit inspired his 1994 collection of poems, Give Me Your Hand, and this collection has now been turned into a show which will take place in The Druid Lane Theatre on Tuesday June 21 at 8.30pm and Wednesday 23 at 11pm.

Actors Dermot Crowley and Dearbhla Molloy, currently staring in Druid’s production of The Cripple of Inishmaan, will read from the poems, while the painting which inspired the particular poem being read will be shown on a screen behind.

Early booking is advised due to the limited capacity in Druid Lane Theatre. Tickets are €15/12. For booking contact the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
