GALWAY DOOM metal/sludge band Rites will launch their self-titled debut record on 12” vinyl with a gig in Áras na nGael this Sunday at 8pm.
The band have been described by www.cvltnation.com as having “mastered the dark art of stomach rattling demonic sludge thuggery” and as a band you need to hear “very, very badly if you have even the slightest interest in heavy sounds”.
Rites are Kieran Griffin (guitar ), Nicola Cosgrove (bass ), Bryan Higgins (guitar ), and Rory Mooney (drums ). The band recorded Rites in August 2010 at Hive Studios and will be promoting it with shows in Galway, Cork, and Dublin. Galway is the official album launch.
Support on the night comes from Dublin stoner rock band Wizards of Firetop Mountain; post punk alternative band Gummidge; and local hardcore band Swine.
