Award-winning Connemara Hotel, Ballynahinch Castle, is to celebrate its 65th birthday with a special evening of music and entertainment in aid of Cancer Care West.
An Evening By The River, with Bill Whelan, Peter Fallon, Julie Feeney, and members from the Irish Chamber Orchestra, takes place on Saturday at 7pm.
Well-known Irish artist Dorothy Cross will also feature in conversation with RTE and Lyric FM broadcaster John Kelly.
This once-off event is limited to 120 tickets with all the proceeds benefiting Cancer Care West.
After a champagne reception, patrons will be treated to a special dinner in the Owenmore Restaurant which overlooks the Ballynahinch salmon river. Dinner will be accompanied by a selection of wines provided by J&C Kenny of Galway.
Following dinner, the entertainment will take place in the walled garden of the castle grounds. This evening of arts, music and creativity by special guests will be produced under the guiding hand of John Kelly.
Ballynahinch Castle, which has been welcoming visitors to the estate for hundreds of years, has been the home of many famous and illustrious people, including the O'Flahertys, Humanity Dick Martin, and His Highness the Maharajah Ranjitsinji. It first opened its doors as a public hotel on June 9, 1946, and its first guest was President Eamon de Valera.
Since then, under the stewardship of the late John O’Connor and current manager Patrick O’Flaherty, Ballynahinch Castle Hotel has developed into one of the finest four-star luxury hotels in Ireland.
