Bearna v Naomh Anna Leitir Mór Sunday 1.30 pm, Pearse Stadium

Bearna advanced to the county semi-final last year playing a defensive brand of football and more of the same was evident in their one-point defeat, 0-9 to 0-8, to Moycullen two weeks ago.

Michael Lydon will have spoken to his players about the need to be more accurate and efficient in front of the posts if they are to have any impact on the 2011 championship.

DD Flaherty was their main score-getter the last day out and notched 0-6 (3fs ). They will look to Ray Conneely, Kieran Hanley and Paddy Kennedy to give Flaherty better scoring support on Sunday. They have scored six goals in their three league games this year and they might need another green flag or two on Sunday if they are to advance.

Leitir Mór were a tad unlucky to lose to Milltown by four points, 2-9 to 0-11, as they conceded 1-2 in the last few minutes.

They are strong down the middle with Colm O’Conghaile, Eanna O’ Cathain, Toto O’Griofa and Cristoir O’ Flatharta at midfield, and Ferdia and Fiachra Breathnach up front. Throw in Cormac O’ Conghaile and Daithí MacDonnchadha and you have the makings of a solid outfit.

Calling a winner in this all-Connemara tie is not easy, and while Mulholland’s have Barna as 4/6 favourites, I am going to give a hesitant vote to the 11/8 underdogs to come through.

Silke’s call: Leitir Mór
