Have your say in the Artistic Atlas of Galway

HAVE YOU ever written a poem about Galway? A short story set here? Painted a picture inspired by or taken a photo of the county’s landscape?

If the answer to all or any of these questions is ‘Yes’ then you should consider submitting them for possible inclusion in the Artistic Atlas of Galway.

The Atlas is the brainchild of Galwegian Liam Duffy, who is inviting submissions to the project with a view to publishing them online, at least at first, and then, funding permitting, into a professionally published book.

“I’ve lived in Galway almost all my life, but travelled quite a bit and always felt Galway was something pretty special,” he says. “The idea came to me after doing some urban studies classes when I was on an exchange to the University of Helsinki. It seemed like a good way to combine my studies, my own writing, and my connection with Galway.”

Those willing to submit their images of, or written material about, Galway, can email [email protected]. These works will then form the ‘chapters’ of the Atlas. Each chapter will be coupled with sociological and historical backgrounds.

Send no more than five poems or three short stories in one .doc attachment. Artists and photographers should also send images pasted into a .doc attachment. Contact details must be included in the attachment.
