REDMOND O’TOOLE, one of Ireland’s most exciting young classical guitarists, and the brilliant violinist Elizabeth Cooney, will play St Mary’s Cathedral Tuam this month.
This will be the concert in the Church Classics 2011 and it takes place on Monday May 30 at 8pm.
Elizabeth Cooney and Redmond O’Toole are internationally successful soloists, but they also perform regularly as a violin/eight-string guitar duo. For this tour they will perform works from the 19th century for violin and guitar by Mauro Giuliani and Nicolo Paganini; ‘Variations on a Theme by Mozart’, a solo guitar piece by Fernando Sor; Manuel deFalla’s ‘Six Spanish Folk Songs’; and Piazzolla’s ‘Bordel 1990’.
Other Church Classics concerts to look forward to include the Callino Quartet and guests on July 13 as part of the Galway Arts Festival; Maria McGarry and Sylvia O’Brien in August; and Mark Duley and Resurgam in October.
