The Galway City Council made a commitment at Monday evening’s council meeting to honour Che Guevara.
Tracing the lineage of Guevara, Labour councillor Billy Cameron proposed the council honour the link between Galway and Cuba.
Guevara is a descendant of two Galway tribes, the Lynch family of Lydican house, and the Blakes.
The project spearheaded by Cllr Cameron will be furthered through liaising with the Argentinean and Cuban embassies
