New York Polyphony to sing in St Nicholas

NEW YORK Polyphony - the most exciting and dynamic vocal ensemble of this generation - will perform in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church on Sunday November 16 at 8pm.

The programme New York Polyphony will sing encompasses polyphony from the 15th century and recently commissioned works by Andrew Smith. Three of his works are included in the programme, alongside more familiar pieces by Byrd (the much-loved Ave Verum corpus ), Cornysh, and Poulenc (Quatre petites prieres de Francis d’Asisse ).

BBC Music has said of the quartet: “They sing most alluringly, superior technique a given but never flaunted, the focus squarely on communicating the deeply emotional wellsprings of much of this music.”

The show is presented by Cois Cladaigh and Pipeworks. Tickets are €25/15 from Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop (091 - 561766 ).
