Kyne welcomes all weather pitch for Chnoic Indreabhán

Chnoic Indreabhán is to benefit from a new all weather pitch, Minister for Environment, Community, and Local Government Phil Hogan announced on Monday. The pitch will be located in Coiste Pháirc Uile Aimsire Ghleann and funding to the tune of €411,019 has been approved for the project.

The field is part of the LEADER element of the rural development programme for Ireland, which focuses on the development of micro-enterprises, rural services, rural recreation, and rural tourism. It is hoped that focusing on such services will lead to sustainable development and ensure prosperity for rural areas.

On announcing the funding, Minister Hogan said: "I am delighted to announce the funding for this all-weather pitch, I know it will be of immense benefit to Cnoc, Indreabhán, Co na Gaillimhe. The facility will improve the quality of life and will strengthen the social and economic fabric for families in the area. This facility will be enjoyed by the community for generations to come.

Galway West TD, Seán Kyne, welcomed the announcement: “The funding will provide a top class sports facility for Indreabhán which will benefit not only the local community but will also bring visitors and tourists to the area.

“The provision of facilities like this is vital to bring prosperity to our more rural communities in Galway who are at a greater risk of the effects of the economic and financial difficulties our country is currently experiencing.”
