Gardaí warn householders following burglaries

Gardaí have appealed for information following a number of burglaries in the city earlier this month.

A house in Barr Na Carraige, Fort Lorenzo, was broken into at some time between 6pm on Friday May 6 and 9pm on Saturday May 7. A sum of money was stolen in the raid. Anyone with information is asked to contact Garda Suzanne Nolan at Galway Garda Station, phone (091 ) 538000.

The previous week a house was broken into at Old Seamus Quirke Road in Shantalla. This burglary occurred at some time between 9pm on Tuesday May 3 and 9am on Wednesday May 4. Anyone with information can contact Garda Charles Cawley at Salthill Garda Station, phone (091 ) 514720.

Gardaí have also appealed to householders to ensure their homes are secure following recent burglaries in the city. All doors and windows, including upstairs windows, should be locked at night and while the house is unoccupied. Householders should also ensure that door and car keys are put away safely at night.
