DERRY CITY’S The Poetry Chicks are coming to Galway to take part in the next North Beach Poetry Nights’ Slam on Monday at 9pm in The Crane Bar.
Abby Oliveira and Pamela Brown have been performing together as The Poetry Chicks since 2006. They are regular performers on the British and Irish poetry scenes, and they have appeared at Glastonbury, Electric Picnic, the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival, and the Flatlake Literary Festival.
Pat McCabe has called them “the best thing to happen to Irish literature since the beatniks” while Eamonn McCann said they were “among the wonders of the modern age, or soon will be!”
Poets wishing to enter the May Slam should have two three minute poems. The poem for the second round must be performed without a script.
