VLADIMIR JABLOKOV is a violin virtuoso, from a classical music family in Slovakia, who enjoys putting contemporary spin on the classics, be they Bowie or Bach.
Vladimir and the Slovak Festival Quartet play the Town Hall Theatre on Sunday at 8pm where they will present Vladimir’s hit show Classical Twist.
The title of the show comes from Vladimir’s debut EP Classical Twist, which features music by Dvorak, Bach, and a version of David Bowie’s ‘Life On Mars’.
Born in Bratislava and coming from four generations of professional music makers, with a Russian maestro for a father and five musical siblings around him at home, it is no wonder Vladimir started playing the violin aged five.
He arrived in Ireland in 2003, originally only planning to stay for a few months. While busking on Grafton Street a woman dropped a letter into his hat and soon a romance blossomed. Vladimir and Justina now live in County Kildare with their young daughter.
Vladimir formed the Slovak Festival Quartet in 2006 and he has played The Mansion House, The Gaiety Theatre, Leinster House, Áras an Uachtarain, and he enjoyed a sold out solo concert at the National Concert Hall.
Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 and www.tht.ie
