Noriana Kennedy to launch debut album in Kelly’s

GALWAY folk singer, musician, and songwriter Noriana Kennedy will launch her debut album Ebb’n’Flow with a concert in Kelly’s Bar, Bridge Street, on Thursday May 5 at 9pm.

Noriana, who was a member of Nábac, is now a solo artist and Ebb’n’Flow explores the links between Irish and American folk music and was recorded between September 2010 and February 2011.

The album was produced by Lúnasa bassist Trevor Hutchinson, and includes contributions from Sharon Shannon; Gerry Paul (Gráda ); singer-songwriter Christof Van Der Ven; American old-time fiddling duo Stephanie Coleman and Cleek Schrey; Breton flute player Sylvain Barou; Bill Whelan from the Rough Deal String Band; and Sean Regan (Damien Dempsey, Sean Keane ).

The album features tales of kind love, lost love, courting, marrying, war, murder, sea faring, and endurance in songs ranging from haunting ballads to lively, old-time tunes, inspired by journeys in Ireland and to New England, and beyond.
