Wolfe grabs gold for TríSpórt

Connemara’s newly-established triathlon club, TríSpórt, is celebrating gold after a win at the European Duathlon Championship.

Joyce Wolfe (pictured ) won a gold medal in her category over the 10k run, 40k cycle, 3k run duathlon race to record her fifth win in five weeks for TríSpórt, and the first international achievement for the club.

Rónán Mac Con Iomaire of TríSpórt said the gold medal was an immensely proud moment for the club. “This is a huge achievement for such a young club, and we’re really proud of Joyce’s gold medal. The club is showing huge success with five wins now in five different races over the past five weeks.

“It’s extremely important to us that we have members of every standard, and it’s our aim to nurture a sporting community in Connemara and Aran. It’s great that we have athletes who are winning races, but the people who are just starting out in sport are as important, if not more important, to us.”

TríSpórt already has swimming and cycling sessions in place and is working on setting up a running session shortly. Membership for the club is free and is available at trisport.ie
