The Mr Personality Festival takes place this weekend and one of the many contestants vying for the crown will be Galway city man Tom Kilkelly, who is hoping his “easy-going” nature, as well as his well-honed social skills, will be enough to win.
Mr Kilkelly, a 27-year-old farmer and a member of the Galway city Macra na Feirme club, will be representing Galway at the sixth annual Mr Personality Festival at the Springhill Court Hotel in Kilkenny. The festival, which is organised by the Kilkenny Macra na Feirme, begins with all the contestants being put through their paces during on-stage interviews conducted by former Macra president Matt O’Keefe. This will be followed by music from Deuces Wild and a DJ until late. But it won’t be all fun and games and the contestants will be up early the following morning for a number of challenges which take place in the hotel ballroom.
Ahead of the Mr Personality Festival Mr Kilkelly spoke of his belief in his abilities to be a good representative for Galway, citing his “very easy going” nature and his knack for getting on with anyone as qualities that will get him far in the competition.
It will not be until after midnight on Saturday when Mr Kilkelly will find out if he has done enough to be named Mr Personality 2011.
