Janelle Monae plays Galway this summer

JANELLE MONAE, the American soul/funk/r’n’b singer, whose set at last year’s Electric Picnic, was considered one of the festival’s highlights, is coming to Galway.

Janelle Monae plays a ‘Róisín Dubh presents...’ show in The Black Box Theatre on Friday June 27.

The last 18 months has seen Monae rise from obscurity to a position where Vogue is calling her “a different kind of Diva” and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has called her: “a true visionary...one of the most important signings of my career”.

Her album The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III ) has enjoyed rave reviews, a Top 20 spot on the US Billboard 200 chart, and a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album.
