New art gallery to open in the city

A disused, ground level space on Lower Merchants Road will not be idle for much longer as it is about to be transformed into a new art gallery.

Engage Art Studios is launching a new exhibition project beginning April to December of this year, with the assistance of Oliver Niland, his family and the Arts Council.

The Niland Gallery is a non-commercial space that will promotes innovative contemporary artworks and events. It will be run on a voluntary basis, be administered by Engage, and will be open on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 noon to 5pm.

The gallery will have its official opening on Thursday April 14 with a reception from 5pm to 7pm.

Future exhibitions include projects by Engage Studio members which will include a curatorial project by Limerick’s award winning Mary Conlon and events during the Galway Arts Festival. For more information contact: [email protected]
