Three Galway youths charged in connection with an alleged burglary and the unauthorised taking of a vehicle have been remanded in custody to appear again at Harristown District Court tomorrow.
The Galway District Court heard on Monday how 20-year-old Michael McDonagh of 19 Sliabh Rua, Ballybane, was arrested on April 3 at 6.54pm and later charged with the alledged offences of possessing certain articles, entering a building with intent to commit an offence, and unauthorised taking of an mpv at Regan’s Bar, Clonboo, on the same date.
An application for bail was made, however Judge Mary Fahy remanded McDonagh into further custody with consent to bail with independent lodgement of €500 cash and the State to be given 48 hours notice. Other conditions included that the accused abide by a curfew of between 8pm and 8am, refrain from alcohol, and not to associate with his co-accused.
With regards Charlie Mongan (18 ) of 63 Camillaun Park, Newcastle, Garda David Foley gave evidence of arresting him on April 3 at 6.40pm and later charging him with burglary, possession of certain articles, and the unauthorised taking of an mpv at the same location and date. No application for bail was made and he was remanded in custody.
According to garda evidence ,18-year-old Martin Collins was arrested at 7.04pm on the same date and charged. Collins of 3 Cois Na Coille, Ballybane, faces charges of alleged dangerous driving, driving without insurance and a driving licence, failure to produce both documents, unauthorised taking of an mpv, burglary, and possession of certain articles. No bail application was made in respect of Collins and he was remanded in custody by consent.
All three are now due to appear at Harristown District Court tomorrow for DPP directions.
