The Forge to host trad music feast

LEADING TRAD musicians like Liz and Yvonne Kane will be playing The Forge in Moycullen on Friday April 8 as part of National Music Day.

National Music Day will see free live music events all over the country, and the Moycullen show, entitled Féasta Ceoil an Earraigh, has been organised by Raidió na Gaeltachta, which will also be broadcast the concert.

The line up includes the gifted fiddle duo Liz and Yvonne Kane with the brilliant Edel Fox on concertina; Marcus Hernon and his sons on flute, box and fiddle; the legendary Johnny Connolly on box; Tommy Mellet on box; Meaití Jó Shéamuis on pipes and flute; Conal Ó Flatharta on flute; and Jack Talty on concertina and piano.

Singers Joe John Mac an Iomaire and Connemara band Cillín will also take to the stage. There will be sean-nós dancing from the Hernons, and recitals from Cill Chiaráin poet Jackie MacDonncha. The MC will be Bríd Ní Chualáin.

Féasta Ceoil an Earraigh will be broadcast from 7pm to 9pm on April 8 on Raidió na Gaeltachta, 92-94 fm.
