Nothing Mickey Mouse about jobs fair as Disneyland rolls into Galway for GMIT event

Two big employers, Disneyland Paris and Irish Pubs Global, are to take part in this year’s GMIT Hotel School Careers & Recruitment Fair in GMIT Galway on April 6.

The two international organisations will be among some 35 exhibitors representing up to 100 employers seeking to recruit students, graduates, and industry professionals for positions at home and abroad. The event runs from 11am to 3pm in GMIT’s Dublin Road campus (New Foyer, IT Learning Centre ).

It is the first time Disneyland Paris will attend this annual event. Representatives will be looking to fill various positions in their hotels, restaurants, shops, and attractions in France.

Irish Pubs Global will be recruiting on behalf of its members across Europe, North America, Canada, Dubai and further afield. They are looking for bar supervisors, managers, restaurant managers, and qualified chefs for various positions globally in the Irish pub and restaurant sector.

Other employers attending this year include Ashford Castle, Dromoland Castle, Jurys Inns, The Merrion Hotel, Gleneagles Hotel Scotland, Mount Wolseley Hotel Spa & Country Club, Clarion Hotels, Hilton Ireland & UK, and the Radisson Blu St Helens.

The GMIT Hotel School Careers Fair is for GMIT students and graduates but is also open to the general public. Visitors are advised to go prepared and bring current copies of their CV. Cáit Noone, Head of the hotel school, says: “GMIT and the Hotel School are hosting this event to assist our graduating students with career options, and to provide opportunities for industry colleagues to meet with potential work placement students.

“We also want to assist those currently seeking jobs in the industry- many unemployed people in this region may have excellent managerial skills or prior hospitality experience, and the tourism industry is always looking for great team leaders and operators.”

“In the past students and visitors have found this event a great opportunity to meet with local and national industry leaders, and discuss work placement and employment opportunities,” explains Ms Noone.

“The tourism industry is fighting through this recession so we’d advise people not to miss this excellent occasion to network, further your career or even open a door to a new career path in an exciting and dynamic industry.”

The Hotel School Careers Fair is co-ordinated by Karen Smyth, manager of the Links Office, GMIT Hotel School. For further information on this event contact Karen at 091-742565 or [email protected]
