Renowned lacemaker Veronica Stuart to give talk in NUIG

The renowned lacemaker Veronica Stuart is coming to NUI, Galway this month for an event to mark the fact that 2011 is the Year of Craft.

Ms Stuart will give a talk in The View upstairs in Áras na Mac Léínn, NUIG, on Monday March 28 at 7.15pm.

For the talk, Ms Stuart will show some samples of her work, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions and have a chat afterwards.

The talk will be opened with a lacemaking demonstration of Carrickmacross and Mountmellick work, and Galway Crochet Craft members will display some of their crochet work alongside the lace.

Ms Stuart has been responsible for the revival of lacemaking and is chairperson of the Traditional Lacemakers of Ireland. She has won international and national competitions, has judged many competitions, and teaches lace classes.
