Thomas Kilroy to take part in public interview at NUIG

The award winning Irish writer Thomas Kilroy is coming to NUI, Galway next week, where he will be the subject of a public interview.

Mr Kilroy will be interviewed by Prof Adrian Frazier on Tuesday at 2.30pm in Árus Moyola, NUIG. The interview will mark the establishment of the Thomas Kilroy Archive at the university.

Mr Kilroy is a native of Kilkenny and has been involved with both the Abbey Theatre and Field Day Theatre Company. He now lives in County Mayo and is a member of Aosdána.

He is the author of the plays The Death and Resurrection of Mr Roche (1968 ), Sex and Shakespeare (1976 ), The Secret Fall of Constance Wilde (1997 ), and Christ Deliver Us! (2010 ).

He is also the author of a number of pieces for radio and television and he has written academic works on Irish theatre, JM Synge, Oliver Goldsmith, Yeats, and Chekhov.

Mr Kilroy is the recipient of numerous awards including the 1971 Guardian Fiction Prize, the Heinemann Award for Literature, and a Lifetime Achievement award at the 2004 The Irish Times/ESB Theatre Award.
