Latin Quarter is new home for Cúirt festival

The Cúirt International Festival of Literature normally takes place around the Town Hall Theatre, but this year The Latin Quarter is now the official new home of the festival.

Many events will still take place in the Town Hall but this year’s programme sees a notable number of readings, spoken word events, talks, and music gigs being presented in the Druid Lane Theatre and the Galway City Museum.

The Druid Lane Theatre will host the following events: Cúirt/Over The Edge showcase (April 13, 3.30pm ); The ‘What does it take to become a published writer?’ talk (April 14, 1pm ); The Read Me Live event (April 13, 1pm and April 14, 3.30pm ); Gearóid Denvir agus John Beag O’Flatharta (April 14, 10pm ); and Penelope Shuttle and Thomas Lux (April 15, 1pm ).

Druid Lane will also host Elif Batuman and Geoff Dyer (April 15, 3.30pm ); Kevin Barry (April 15, 5pm ); singer-songwriter Sean Tyrrell (April 15, 10pm ); football writers John Doyle and Steve Bloomfield (April 16, 12 noon ); music writer Michael Gray (April 16, 3pm ); David Park and Claire Kilroy (April 17 at 3pm ); Clare Murphy (April 17, 4pm ); Stephen Murray (April 17, 5pm ); and the reading of the new play Bás Tounge (April 17, 6pm ).

The Galway City Museum will host Celia de Fréine and Deirdre Brennan (April 16, 11am, museum café ) and Rachel Hewitt (April 16, 4.30pm ).
