The Forge at Gort Festival

THE FORGE At Gort literary festival, organised by the Western Writers’ Centre, returns on Friday March 25 and Saturday 26 to the south Galway town.

Writers taking part in the festival include John W Sexton, The Poetry Chicks, Miceál Kearney, journalist and poet Olaf Tyaransen, Clare Sawtell, Noel Monahan, Matt Mooney, and the harpist Brenda Malloy.

Margaretta D’Arcy and John Arden will host the Tea With George Moore event, a convivial ‘chat-over-tea with George Moore’ who, 100 years ago this year, published Ave, the first volume of his three-part autobiography.

Renowned photographer Joe Geoghegan will exhibit elements of his famous exhibition of photos-and-poems from the eyes of Irish writers. Dublin artist Tom Byrne’s painting of Lady Augusta Gregory will be offered for sale by auction to raise funds for the festival. The festival comes at a time when the Galway-based
