GULLIVER’S TRAVELS is one of the great achievements of Irish literature in which Jonathan Swift, using the full power of his imagination, created a savage and hilarious satire of humanity.
Originally published in 1726, it is the story of Lemuel Gulliver’s voyages to four extraordinary countries. Of these the best known is Lilliput, the land of the miniature people and Brobdingnag, the land of the giants. It is these two episodes that will be presented on the stage of the Town Hall Theatre this month.
Wonderland Productions’ new theatrical presentation of Gulliver’s Travels plays at the Town Hall Theatre on Wednesday March 23 and Thursday 24 at 8pm.
Five actor-musicians, playing multiple roles and enlivening their characters with costume, physical theatre, inventive design, live music and puppetry, invite the audience to imagine the giants of Brobdingnag and the tiny Lilliputians, and scenes of shipwreck, naval battles and flying islands.
The show is adapted and directed by Alice Coghlan. The set and puppets are designed by The Irish Times Theatre Award nominee Emma Fisher. The cast includes Nathan Gordon as Gulliver, Roseanne Lynch (ex-Fair City ), Fra Gunn, Sarah Kinlen, and Graham Singleton
Tickets for what promises to be a hugely entertaining family show are available from the Town Hall Theatre on 091-569777 or at www.tht.ie
