McCambridge’s gears up for annual Food and Wine Fair

McCambridge’s has announced details of its fifth annual Food and Wine Fair. This year the fair will run on Thursday November 27 from 5pm to 9pm in the Connaught Room at The Ardilaun. This unique event has grown year on year with new gourmet food producers and wine importers featuring in this wonderful feast for the senses. Attendees can sample the best of Irish produced cheeses, chutneys, chocolates, cakes, puddings and preserves as well as world wide wines, coffees and teas.

This hugely popular event aims to raise much needed funds for Grá, the Galway support group for families of children with autism, as well as five Galway city school funds — Dominican Convent, Taylor’s Hill; Coláiste Iognáid; St Mary’s College; Educate Together; and Gaelscoil Dara. Over the last five years thousands of euro have been collected by the schools through ticket sales. Each school is allocated a consignment of tickets and through the parents’ committees the tickets are sold and all proceeds from the sales go to the schools’ fund.

Introducing a new aspect to the event this year, McCambridge’s has invited two of its suppliers to personally attend and give demonstrations using their specialist products.

At 5.30pm Siobhán and Paul Lawless of Foods of Athenry, the healthy home bakery, will give a demonstration of their baking techniques, providing tips on baking at home as well as advice on quality ingredients and serving tips.

At 6.30pm Jennifer Ryan of Pónaire Irish Handcrafted Coffee will give a coffee barista demonstration, giving insights into coffee beans and how they are roasted as well as the best ways to make your coffees, the correct temperatures, the frothing of the milk, and how to make the best cappuccinos and café lattés.

“We are really looking forward to the Food and Wine Fair, its always a terrific night,” said Eoin McCambridge, managing director of McCambridge’s. “Everyone enjoys this event and we are happy to raise funds for the Galway charity GRÁ and local schools. We like to think that we can give something back to the community.”

This event is being organised by Natalie McCambridge and Óg Dobson with the assistance of the McCambridge family — Eoin, Norma, and Luke Anthony, the recently appointed general manager of McCambridge’s of Shop Street, Galway, along with the all the staff at McCambridges.

“This year we will be sampling our very popular multi-award winning Chilean Terra Mater wine also on board are Taserra Wine Merchants who will be sampling a selection of their award winning d’Arenberg wines and the very distinctive Black Chook range,” said Natalie McCambridge. “The Spanish wines selection will be presented by Approach Trade, who constantly introduce us to new and interesting wines. New and old world wines will be available to whet your palate.”

Special offers on Christmas wine orders will be offered on the night, making it well worthwhile to attend.
