What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Simple things such as spending time relaxing with my girlfriend, rehearsing and playing music with the guys in the band, being in good company.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

Can’t think of any I identify with but I admire Caravaggio, Da Vinci, and Thomas Edison.

Which living person do you most admire?

Quincy Jones.

Which is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

It’s natural to be insecure now and again but you’re better off getting on with it.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Musical equipment.

What is your favourite journey?

Any train journey to a place I haven’t been before.

On what occasion do you lie?

I’ve never ever lied. Honestly, I swear.

Which living person do you most despise?

Most people are fine but there are always a few. You’re going to meet them here and there so ignore them whenever possible.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

My girlfriend.

When and where were you happiest?

Either now getting to do what I enjoy doing or the carefree summer days as a kid.

Which talent would you most like to have?

Probably something along the lines of a great athlete.

What is your current state of mind?

I’m in good form.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Writing and recording an album.

If you were to die and come back as a person or a thing, what do you think it would be?

Hopefully an animal that gets to sleep all day.

What is your most treasured possession?

My Stratocaster guitar.

Being in a small prison cell for life.

Probably writing and producing music.

Honesty.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

A sense of humour and honesty.

Philip K Dick, Cormac McCarthy.

What is your motto?

Work hard if you want to make something happen, don’t take yourself too seriously, and be good to the people who are important to you.

Paul King and his band play the Bierhaus on Sunday. They have confirmed a regular Monday slot in Bar 8 and play Monroe’s Backstage Bar upstairs on Sunday March 20.
