Jes going to the dogs

Coláiste Iognáid, on Sea Road, has launched a major fund-raising initiative to support the building project currently on-going at the school.

After almost a 10 year wait, the Jes finally secured funding from the Department of Education and Skills, to further develop the site on Sea Road.

When completed in late 2011, the Jes will boast nine new classrooms, a chapel, an IT suite, a home economics suite, a major sports hall and weights room, as well as various other staff and meeting rooms.

Known as The New Era Campaign, the fundraising will take the form of a number of events and activities over the next few years, to raise the €2 million required to complete the project. A dedicated team of volunteers is inviting parents, past pupils, and friends to support this vital campaign.

The first of these events takes place at the Galway Greyhound Stadium, on Friday, April 8. The Jes Night at the Dogs promises to be a fun-filled night, with great prizes to be won, as well as all the thrills of the races.

Tickets, for admission and entry to an exclusive 'Buster Race', can be purchased at the school 1pm to 2pm every Thursday and Friday, from March 3. First prize in the 'Buster Race' is €1,000, with lots of other superb prizes to be won.
