Seizing PR Opportunities – How your small business can look MÓR!

Have you ever felt your competitor seems to have that edge and manages to appear in the papers and you wonder why? The answer may be that they are proactive in managing their PR and take and create the opportunities in order to gain media coverage.

To demystify this, Mór Public Relations will present The DIY PR Workshop in association with the Galway City and County Enterprise Board on Monday March 7 from 10am to 2.30pm. This interactive training course, developed by well established PR consultant Máirín O’Reilly, specialises in enabling start-up enterprises and owner-run businesses to seize their PR opportunities in the current climate, gaining free publicity without having a PR budget.

The DIY PR Workshop is the first of a series of training workshops that The Galway City and County Enterprise Board, under the leadership of their new CEO Ms. Breda Fox, are offering for spring 2011 from their Resource Centre based at their offices in Woodquay Court, Woodquay, Galway. ‘PR and communications are essential business tools which contribute to the successful growth of a business. Many start-ups now begin with little or no extra funds and a workshop like this will pay dividends in enabling the entrepreneur gain publicity and reputation through PR,’ stated Ms Fox, CEO, GCCEB.

In the current economic climate businesses are using every possible means to keep their competitive edge and more and more are turning to PR. It is a great opportunity for a business to benefit from a full-time PR practitioner who has helped many organisations over the years. O'Reilly will impart her experiences, show you how to write and structure a press release and provide interesting and relevant case studies during a half day workshop that will be fast-paced and will motivate you to get your PR plan in action.

‘PR is not rocket science, however you must be persistent in seizing all opportunities. Thinking innovatively makes all the difference when you pitch your story at an editor. Also you’ve got to have the basics right so as to increase your chances of success – editors are inundated every day, so you must stand out from the crowd,’ commented O’Reilly.
