The adage ‘innovation is the key to success’ is true for two family-owned Galway businesses that are joining forces to bring some of the world’s best wine producers to Galway for a food and wine showcase event. Renvyle House Hotel and Galway city wine distributors J&C Kenny have combined their specialist skills and contacts in wine, food and hospitality to stage an International Wine Weekend at Renvyle House Hotel from April 1-3.
J&C Kenny has organised for several of the world’s best wine producers including Diego Palacios of Tres Palacios vineyard in Santiago and Paul Carrille from Jean Francois Carrille vineyard in Saint Emilion, Bordeaux to travel to Connemara and participate in a weekend of wine tastings and talks at Renvyle House Hotel.
To complement this, the team at Renvyle House will host a weekend of entertainment around the wine events commencing with a prosecco reception before dinner on the Friday night. A wine-tasting evening on Saturday (April 2 ) will be followed by a sumptuous seven-course showcase dinner prepared by executive chef Tim O’Sullivan with accompanying wines from J&C Kenny.
Restaurant critic and editor of prestigious Food & Wine magazine, Ross Golden-Bannon, will act as guest host for the dinner and introduce a different wine for each course.
Two of the organisers behind the weekend are Galway businesswomen Zoe Fitzgerald of Renvyle House Hotel and Orla Kenny of J&C Kenny wine distributors who represent the next generation of the two family businesses.
The initiative, according to the organisers, introduces world-class winemakers to Galway city and county as well as providing food and wine enthusiasts from near and far with the opportunity to meet with award-winning winemakers and enjoy sumptuous cuisine that showcases the best of local food producers and locally-sourced ingredients such as Connemara lamb and the freshest seafood.
“Our international wine weekend is all about experiencing some of the world’s best wines in a fun, informative way from the winemakers that produce them and about enjoying great cuisine,” said Orla Kenny, J&C Wines.
“The word has already got out and there is a lot of enthusiasm from wine fans about the weekend. The event falls on Mothers Day so people are using it as an opportunity to pamper the women in their life,” said Zoe Fitzgerald, director, Renvyle House Hotel.
The international wine weekend costs €199 per person sharing which includes two nights B&B, the seven-course banquet with wines and all weekend wine lectures and tastings. Enquiries to Renvyle House Hotel on 095 43511 or visit www.renvyle.com
