Galway City Council is issuing an advisory to the public regarding the possibility of localised flooding in the city over the coming weekend until Monday morning
Galway City Council advises that due to an combination of High Tides, high flow...s currently in the River Corrib and the possibility of high winds, it is expected the quay wall at Fishmarket/ Spanish Arch will be overtopped.
This is most likely to happen at the morning tides on Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings. Some localised flooding could occur in the Spanish Arch, Spanish Parade, Quay Street and Flood Street area of the city.
Galway City Council has a temporary pedestrian control barrier in place along the quay wall as a precautionary measure at Fishmarket, Spanish Arch. The public is advised to have regard for their safety in the area, particularly at high tide on Sunday morning.
