Skoda’s new Superb combi estate in Monaghans Galway

Following the successful launch of the new Yeti SUV, Skoda has just launched the new Superb Combi estate.

Based on the successful Superb saloon, which is famed for its unique twin door boot system, the Superb Combi retains a modern yet distinctively upmarket appearance while providing unrivalled luggage capacity and versatility.

The Superb Combi is one of the roomiest cars in this segment, combining class-leading rear seat leg room with 633 litres of luggage space, expanding to 1,865 litres with the seats folded. The vast luggage area can combine clever luggage nets and sliding aluminium partitions to secure both bulky and loose loads.

In addition to the renowned 1.6 TDI, 105bhp diesel unit, the Superb benefits from the latest common rail diesel technology in the form of 2.0 TDI 140bhp and 170bhp mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic DSG transmission. The latest TSI advancements are also used to deliver more power,with reduced emissions in the 1.4 TSI, 125bhp and 1.8 TSI, 160bhp petrol engines. For those who venture off the beaten track the Superb Combi can also be ordered with a 4x4 transmission.

The Superb Combi has generous equipment levels with items such as dual–zone climate control, leather combination interiors, colour touch screen sound systems, BlueTooth phone connection, and cruise control offered as standard from the middle of the range Ambition model. The top Elegance model benefits from satellite navigation, adaptive bi-xenon lights and park assist system that will actually control the steering of the vehicle during tricky parallel parking manoeuvres. ESP and seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag, are standard across the range.

The Skoda Superb Combi is priced from €27,245 for the Superb Combi Comfort and €31,295 (on the road ) for the highly equipped Elegance model both with the 1.6TdI, 105bhp engine. With a premium between €900 and €1,100 over the saloon model, the Superb Combi is sure to strengthen Skoda’s presence, particularly at the upper end of the family and executive car market.
