Cocktails at the ‘g’-eneral Election

If you are finding the election campaign and canvassing thirsty work, or just wish to proclaim your political colours while enjoying a social drink, then why not enjoy a Political Cocktail?

The g Hotel has come up with six cocktail creations, with each drink representing a different political party and the Independents. The cocktails will be offered at the hotel from now until Election Day on February 25.

‘Labour’ is a distinctive shade of ruby to signify the red rose logo of the party. ‘Fianna Fáil’ includes peach schnapps and pureé to replicate the orange colour of its logo and the Irish flag. The ‘Sinn Féin’ cocktail includes an Irish whiskey blend.

The ‘Independents’ cocktail is the most colourful and has the most complex ingredients, while ‘Fine Gael’ is a vibrant blue and ‘The Green Party’ is a sparkling emerald colour.

A barometer of the cocktails will be recorded on the Cocktail Ballot at the hotel and on Election Day the most popular political party cocktail will be announced.

“It will be interesting to see if the g hotel cocktail barometer reflects the actual popularity of the political parties and their outcome on Election Day,” says Damien O’Riordan, the g’s general manager. “No doubt there will be interesting political cocktail coalitions seen in the lounges of the g Hotel in the coming weeks.”
