With unemployment rising and emigration becoming a reality once more, the next government’s priority must be on job creation.
This is the view of Independent Galway West candidate Noel Grealish, who said the there should be “a concerted effort on job creation” once the new Government is elected
“Everywhere I go, people are expressing to me their worries and concerns about job creation and job stability,” said Deputy Grealish. “In so many homes throughout the country, people are affected, either directly or indirectly, by this scourge of unemployment.”
The recent ESRI report suggests that a further 100,000 people will leave this country in the next two years, a situation Dep Grealish has called “a national disgrace”. As a result, he is calling for the issue of job creation to become “a national priority”.
“Billions of euro have been pumped into the banking sector over the last two years by the outgoing Government, while at the same time, hundreds of thousands of our citizens have lost their jobs,” he said. “There is an issue of priorities or rather lack of priorities at the core of this situation.”
Dep Grealish said that as an Independent TD in Dáil Éireann, he would “use his voice and vote to speak out on behalf of the thousands of Irish citizens who have already lost their jobs or are in fear of losing them”.
