Labour and Sinn Féin look set to make major gains in Election 2011 while up to three Left candidates could be elected across County Galway’s two constituencies.
This month’s election could provide a real breakthrough for the Irish Left. With that in mind, a public meeting, entitled New Political Possibilities in Ireland for the Left, takes place this Saturday from 3pm to 4.30pm, upstairs in Richardson’s Bar, Eyre Square.
The speakers will include Labour councillor Derek Nolan, Independent councillor Catherine Connolly, and Independent Mike Cubbard. All three are standing in Galway West.
The meeting will give the public a chance to discuss and compare policies of left and left-leaning candidates in the upcoming election. The candidates will present their policies and there will be a one hour questions and answer session afterwards.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
